He  walked to kent from sailsbury to see my granny when she was stopped there and knocked the doors on the way calling for work. i wish he was still here today he would of been  amaze that a photo of him was on the world wide web!

Hi Site owner.  Robert Hughes parents were Robert Hughes and Mary. Unfortunatly I don't have Mary's maiden name, although I have a feeling she may have been something to do with the Penfolds, btu I can't be sure.

Hi there,

I have found my family in the 1881 census living on Mitcham Common: Alexander Lee, his wife and children including 2 year old

Issac who was my great grandfather. Isaac went on to marry Alice Cooper (daughter of John and Elvinia Cooper) and of whom I have

a vague memory as a child.Unfortunately I have not had any contact with my father since then, but I do remember being told I was related to Gipsy Lee. An internet search has found that she was named Urania Boswell and is buried in Farnborough Church, Kent. I was born in

Farnborough but I have no idea how this woman relates to my family.Any information anybody may have would be much appreciated.

Kind regards, Tony

Dear Siteowner, this is what I've managed to find out about the Hughes family so far. Robert and Mary Hughes were the parents of Robert Hughes who married Sarah Davis, here is a list of their children and approximate dates of birth: Sophia-c1845, Frederick-c.1846, Robert-c.1853, Joseph-c.1855, Ocean-c.1858, Phylissc.1858 (could Ocean and Phyliss be twins?) Noahc.1859 (my great grandad). Francis, Tilla. I don't have birth dates for these two. Leonard c.1860, Defiance c. 1861,  Vashti c.1863, John-c.1865 and Sarah-c.1870.  I hope this is not confusing for you! Maybe it'll help fill in some blanks? Thanks,  Sally.

Thanks Sally, yes I have 11 children for Robert and Sarah , I am still trying to find out who is in the picture but it is definitely a Jones so must be related?

My great gran was Gentila Roberts, born 1890 in Bristol. Her mother was Mary Ann, I don't know her fathers name. By 1920, she was settled in Brynmenyn, near Bridgend in S Wales with her husband Percy Price. They had 3 children born 1920-1924.  My problem is, Gentila doesn't appear to have a marriage record, so Im finding her family hard to trace. There is also no birth or census record for her!  She had a brother named Jim Roberts who was a well known horse dealer and boiler maker. He lived in Brynmenyn in a cottage by the train station. He had 2 children by his first wife, then a son named Bill Roberts by his second wife (Agnes, a draper). Gentila was a palmist and fortune teller and died in Newport, 1966 aged 76. She had been living with an Alan Edwards as her husband Percy had since died, but I cannot find a marriage for her and Alan. Gentila poss had a sister who married a Mr Corrigan.

In 1871 St Matthew Alverstoke Gosport Ashton Wright aged 51 ( Pedlar) Alender aged 38 now says born Godstone Devon

James Smith aged 49 Born Gislingham Dorset ( Lodger) Sarah aged 17 Elizah aged 15 ( painter) Ellen aged 11

they have children Ashton aged 9 Elsie F aged 6 Hilda L aged 4 Ida L aged 1 all born in Gosport

I would suggest if you contact local registry at gosport you should be able to get marriage certificate, also it would seem they didn't move from area so locla records might help you.  i have looked for Ashton marriage but as of yet can't find anything.

hope this helps you Sandy Buckland.

for Heather Guit regarding Ashton Wright

I found 1841 Census not very clear but it appears Ashton Wright  was living in Prestwich Cum  Oldam Lancashire aged 25 born 1815 ( Pot Dealer) with Anna Wright aged 20 born 1821 & Moran Bigley aged 15 born 1826 ( Female)

I think Ashton married in 1838 Aston under lyne Lancashire to a Hannah Wrigley could be woman called anna 1841 census aren't very good with names but you would need to get marriage certificate to confirm this

hope it all helps you to find your family
